About Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a city that hits the senses at full volume. One of the world's most spectacular skylines crowds the edge of Victoria Harbour, double-decker trams rattle past century-old temples, and a quick ferry or hike delivers you to green hills, fishing villages and beaches that feel a world away from the neon. It is a place of delicious contradictions: Michelin-starred dim sum and dai pai dong street stalls, glassy malls and crowded wet markets, Buddhist monasteries and round-the-clock nightlife. Ride the historic tram to Victoria Peak for the definitive view, sail the Star Ferry across the harbour, browse the night markets of Mong Kok, then escape to Lantau Island for the giant Tian Tan Buddha. Compact, efficient and endlessly energetic, Hong Kong is one of the easiest cities in Asia to explore, with a superb metro, near-universal English and an obsession with food that runs from morning yum cha to midnight noodles. It rewards both the first-time visitor chasing icons and the return traveller seeking its quieter islands and trails.
