About Dubai

Dubai is the city that turned a stretch of desert coastline into one of the planet's most audacious destinations. In barely a generation it has built the world's tallest tower, palm-shaped islands, indoor ski slopes and some of the most extravagant hotels ever conceived, all wrapped in year-round sunshine and a famously easy, tax-free lifestyle. Yet Dubai is more than glitter. Cross the creek into the old quarter of Al Fahidi and you find wind-tower houses, spice and gold souks, and wooden abra boats ferrying traders as they have for a century. Beyond the city, the red dunes of the Arabian Desert beckon for sunset safaris, camel rides and Bedouin-style camps under the stars. It is a place built for indulgence and ease: glittering malls with aquariums and ski slopes, pristine beaches and rooftop pools, world-spanning cuisine, and an international crowd that makes English the lingua franca. Safe, spotless and superbly connected as a global flight hub, Dubai is equally suited to a luxury escape, a family holiday or a quick stopover that turns into a highlight.
