May to September brings the warmest weather, long days, open-air bars, lakes and festivals - the best time to enjoy Berlin's outdoor life. Spring and autumn are mild and pleasant with fewer crowds. Winter is cold and grey but atmospheric, with cosy bars and excellent Christmas markets in December.
